ERAU Computer Science
The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science
provides excellent preparation for a variety of careers in computer
science and software engineering. The program specializes in the
cutting edge of computer technology used in today’s commercial
and military applications. The curriculum encompasses the fundamentals
of computing, advanced computing concepts, and computing application
courses. Advanced software
engineering concepts are integrated throughout the curriculum.
Because of the importance of team-based science, computer science
students start a team project in the very first semester, culminating
in the senior year with a capstone design project.
Computer Science
majors may customize their studies to acquire a background in a
specific field or industry – the aviation and aerospace industries
in particular. They will select one of five application tracks:
Business: For those interested in commercial software
development and/or those whose future career plans include managing
a commercial software firm.
Defense Studies: Designed to meet the needs of
students involved with the ROTC program. Students have the option
of using ROTC courses as electives within the program requirements.
Intelligence and Security: For students interested
in areas such as network security, cryptography, and combating cyber-terrorism.
Space Physics: Designed for those interested in
both space science and computer science. This track is an excellent
choice for students whose career goals with NASA or similar organizations
or corporations involved in space exploration.
A custom track: For special interests not aligning
perfectly with the pre-designed tracks, custom tracks may be proposed
and are usually approved.
