ERAU Computer Engineering and Electrical
Engineering
The Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering
degree gives the student the opportunity to acquire a broad background
in computer design, including embedded control systems, real-time
systems, telecommunication systems, and software engineering. The
program’s emphasis on real-time embedded control systems and
hardware/software interfaces provides program graduates employment
opportunities beyond graduates of traditional computer engineering
degree programs, including positions in the aerospace and defense
industries.
The Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical
Engineering is a systems oriented program of study including
analog and digital circuits, communication systems, computers, control
systems, electromagnetic fields, energy sources and systems, and
electronic/avionics materials and devices. In addition the student
also gains specialization in avionics appropriate for entry-level
electrical engineering positions in the aerospace industry.
Engineering at Embry-Riddle blends theory with hands-on application.
Undergraduate students in Electrical
Engineering and Computer
Engineering have direct access to laboratories and facilities
where they gain practical experience. King Engineering and Technology
Center houses a variety of labs used by the electrical and computer
engineering students, including Communications, Control Theory,
Digital Circuits and Power Labs, Autonomous Vehicles Design Suite
and Senior Design Suite. The Embry-Riddle Machine Vision Lab, also
located in the King Center, specializes in applied research and
development leading to the advancement of robust solutions for machine
vision, machine perception and robotics applications. The lab has
developed a number of new technologies that are finding their way
to commercialization. Among the lab's many accomplishments are the
first interactive hologram and the first interactive 3D LCD.
Senior Computer Engineering and Electrical Engineering students
have the chance to apply their accumulated knowledge in a culminating
design project. Students work as a team to model engineering design
in industry as they conceptualize, define, and build an aerospace
system or subsystem.
