ERAU Aviation Environmental Science
Embry-Riddle’s Prescott campus offers the only
undergraduate Environmental Science degree in North
America with an aviation and aerospace focus. The aviation and aerospace
industry has the greatest need of professionals who can help solve
an increasingly complex web of problems associated with environmental
issues. The Aviation
Environmental Science program at Embry-Riddle is designed to
give graduates the knowledge and technical skills needed to tackle
the environmental and safety issues found in the aviation and aerospace
industry.
The core curriculum in Aviation Environmental Science is designed
to give students fundamental science knowledge and demonstrate the
ways in which business, economics, geography and policy studies
integrate with environmental aspects of their future careers. Aviation
Environmental Science students will also gain hands-on experience
through the completion of a co-op in the aviation and environmental
industry. Students also have the option of completing independent
research under faculty guidance in a special area of interest. In
addition, Aviation Environmental Science students will choose between
two specific areas of concentration:
Applied
Environmental Science: Our unique
science courses and faculty give students precisely the knowledge
and skills that they need to become environmental problem solvers.
Students will help aviation industries become environmentally aware
and compliant through co-ops, internships, and consulting projects
that are part of the curriculum. Designated electives in this area
of concentration focus on environmental and biological issues.
Environmental
Management: Designated electives in
this area of concentration allow students to further tailor their
interests with rigorous academic preparation in their choice of
the following areas: marketing, human resource management, international
business, environmental law, and much more. Student field trips
and guest speakers provide students a unique opportunity to gain
industry awareness. Students who chose this option will be well
equipped to understand how public sector or private sector entities
operate.
