ERAU Aviation Business Administration
The Aviation Business Administration
program at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University provides its students
with the education, skills and industry exposure needed for the
successful management,
operation, and financing of businesses (air cargo, airline, aircraft
manufacturers or general entrepreneurship) and transportation facilities
(airports and heliports). Students in the Aviation Business
Administration major acquire a strong foundation of business and
management principles, finance and accounting, information systems,
communication skills, and teamwork. The curriculum is frequently
enriched by field trips, conferences, forums, visiting speakers,
and other programs. The major blends theory with practical applications
to prepare graduates for a variety of exciting and interesting positions
in government or in industry.
Aviation Business Administration students concentrate on specialized
courses in one of four areas of concentration that are in high demand
in today’s aviation and aerospace industry:
Airport Management: Prepares students wit the
knowledge and skills to effectively surmount the specialized challenges
facing today’s airport operators. Opportunities exist to focus
on airport planning, design, operation, safety and security, business/leasing,
public relations and noise control, which prepare students for positions
at commercial service or general aviation airports.
Finance: Excellent choice for students seeking
careers with aircraft manufacturers and leasing organizations or
to serve as financial officials in government.
Flight Operations: Specialized flight training
in fixed wing or rotorcraft to complement the student’s strong
foundation in business.
General Management: Ideal for students whose career
choices are focused on a wide range of managerial responsibilities,
from the start up of a small business to the pursuit of more specialized
supervisory or managerial positions in larger organizations.
Many companies within the aviation industry look to Embry-Riddle
for Aviation Business Administration students. However, this program
can be applied to management careers in the aviation and aerospace
industry and in general business. Graduates of the Aviation
Business Administration program are qualified to seek positions
in career fields such as airport operations (business or management),
aviation operations management, fixed based operator (FBO) operation
and management, public or private sector financial management, human
resource management, general management and marketing and sales
management.
