ERAU Aeronautics
The Bachelor of Science in Aeronautics
is an interdisciplinary program custom designed to match specific
interests and career goals in the aviation
industry. Students choose coursework in aeronautical
science, air traffic management, aviation safety, business administration,
computer science, economics, information technology, security, space
studies, flight, and meteorology. It is typical for students
to earn more than one academic minor and graduate with two or three
areas of intensive knowledge (such as Aviation Safety, Meteorology,
and Business Administration). This will increased employment and
advancement opportunities in the aviation industry.
The Aeronautics major is comprised of aviation courses, professional
development elective courses, and area of concentration courses.
Students may qualify for academic credit for prior learning experiences
if they currently work or have previously worked in the field of
aviation or hold FAA certificates.
The Aeronautics program incorporates 21 credit hours of Professional
Development electives selected from upper-division courses in:
- Aeronautical Science
- Air Traffic Management
- Applied Meteorology
- Business
- Computer Science
- Economic
- Information Technology
- Safety
- Security
Whether building on credit for prior aviation learning or are
new to aviation, a 36 credit hour area of concentration is created
by selecting courses from among the following areas:
A degree from Embry-Riddle is highly respected in the aviation
industry and gives graduates an edge with employers for initial
hiring and for promotion. A career path is largely determined by
the choice of an academic minor and career strengthening courses,
as well as by prior experience in aviation (if applicable). Employment
opportunities abound in aviation-related areas such as aviation,
security, avionics, electronics, flight dispatch, ground support
services, management, maintenance management, operations, professional
piloting, safety, training, and weather.
